The Bold Moves Peanut Butter Creative Makes to Champion Women in Business
Women-owned businesses are rewriting the rules of entrepreneurship, driving economic growth like never before. According to The 2023 Impact of Women-Owned Businesses Report, 14 million women-owned businesses make up 39.1% of all US businesses — that’s a 13.6% growth from 2019 to 2023.
These firms are generating nearly $1.8 trillion in revenue and employing 10 million people, shaping the future of the U.S. economy.
But behind the impressive numbers lies a deeper challenge — women-owned businesses continue to face systemic barriers, including unequal access to funding, limited representation in key industries, and persistent biases in the marketplace.
These obstacles hinder their ability to scale and achieve revenue parity. Clearly, there is an urgent need for more inclusive policies and resources to level the playing field.
Sisters Becca and Jenna, founders of Peanut Butter Creative, are helping to bridge these gaps by helping women-owned businesses grow purposefully and intentionally through strategic branding and marketing solutions.
Who Are Becca & Jenna?
Becca and Jenna, sisters and co-founders of Peanut Butter Creative, bring high-level design and strategy to small business owners. They are passionate branding experts dedicated to helping ambitious women grow their businesses. Based outside Denver, Colorado, they balance their work as creative entrepreneurs with family life, raising their children, and pursuing hobbies like home decorating and crafting.
Since founding the agency in 2016, they aimed to empower women entrepreneurs by helping them elevate their brands with intention.
The result? Hundreds of women-owned businesses have rebranded and flourished through the agency’s expert strategies.
“We started Peanut Butter Creative, named for our shared love (obsession?) with peanut butter while working in corporate marketing and branding.
We come from a family of small business owners and felt the strategies we were developing for large enterprises would be so helpful to those building businesses of their own — especially women.”
The unique challenges women face in entrepreneurship have fuel the business mission:
“Statistically, women-owned businesses receive less funding and generate less revenue than other businesses and we wanted to help change that by working with women to grow their businesses through strategic brand design, website development, and marketing initiatives.”
Building Brands That Attract the Right Clients
Many women entrepreneurs come to Peanut Butter Creative feeling frustrated with their current branding. They often attract clients who undervalue their services, question their pricing, or push back on their processes.
As strategic partners, Peanut Butter Creative would recommend a rebrand to elevate their clients’ aesthetic and messaging — a substantial move in helping these brands attract ideal clients who truly connect with their values. The sisters have a solid advice for brands considering rebranding:
“Before rebranding, it’s essential to figure out who your ideal clients are. What do you have in common? What can you connect with them on? Establishing these relatability points and weaving them throughout your messaging will help your ideal clients understand and connect with you.”
By focusing on these connections, brands can build a foundation for a rebrand that resonates deeply with the clients they want to attract.
A Rebrand with Purpose & Precision
Peanut Butter Creative’s rebranding process begins with a deep dive into the client’s business. They audit existing materials, conduct client interviews, and research the target audience to understand what works and what needs to change.
A standout case study? Sugar and Spoon Handmade Caramels. Before rebranding, their aesthetic didn’t match the premium product they offered, and a potential wholesaler was hesitant to move forward.
After the rebrand, not only did the wholesaler sign the contract, but the brand gained new confidence.
Becca and Jenna believe the key to success is simple:
“Feeling worthy and proud of your logo, website, marketing materials and message you share with the world empowers you to do just that — share it. That confidence leads to more business growth than anything else!”
The Importance of Consistency in Branding
Rebranding doesn’t stop at launch.
Becca and Jenna stress the importance of consistency in how a brand is used across platforms.
“Utilizing your brand colors, fonts, textures, and general layouts improves brand memorability and allows you to stay top of mind when your ideal clients need your offerings or know someone who does.”
Their Creative Club offers ongoing support post-launch, providing clients with social media posts, email campaigns, and marketing materials, all aligned with the brand guidelines to ensure continued consistency and impact.
When to Rebrand and When to Refresh
Knowing when to rebrand vs. refresh your brand can be tricky. Becca and Jenna offer this advice:
“A rebrand is ideal if you’re not attracting the clients you deeply love to serve, or if your current branding doesn’t align with the success, professionalism, and level of experience you’ve reached.
A brand refresh is the right move if a certain font, color or layout dates your brand and has fallen out of style, or if you find yourself often wanting to tweak your branding slightly to fit the ways you’d like to use it.”
How to Know If Your Brand Is Working
Is your branding delivering results? Becca and Jenna advise entrepreneurs to look for these key signs:
“If you’re getting leads from people who you would consider to be ideal clients, if those leads are converting to paying clients without much, if any, resistance to your pricing, if they leave glowing reviews and tell their family and friends about you — then your branding is attracting your people and communicating what it’s like to work with you to those who are a perfect match."
Leveraging Social Media for Success
Social media remains one of the most powerful tools in any branding strategy.
Becca and Jenna use it to drive results by creating eye-catching posts, engaging reels, and dynamic content that aligns with each client’s new brand.
“Additionally, within the Creative Club, we love to design templates that our clients can use and reuse to craft a consistent and cohesive Instagram feed to uplevel their professionalism.”
Looking Ahead at the Future of Women-Owned Brands
Becca and Jenna are committed to supporting the growth of women-owned businesses through holistic branding strategies.
They believe that branding in 2024 requires more than just aesthetics; it’s about building trust, telling a compelling story, and delivering consistent results.
For them, the future of women’s entrepreneurship is bright, and with branding agencies like Peanut Butter Creative at the helm, women entrepreneurs are poised for continued success.
